This collection primarily consists of correspondence between Naaman Johnson Woodland, Jr. and a wide variety of performers and talent. Files contain correspondence, programs, headshots, playbills, and biographical information pertaining to performers who were in contact with the Beaumont Music Commission's Artist's Selection Committee between the years of 1985 and 2004.

Biographical Note

Naaman Johnson Woodland, Jr. (1926-2015) was a lecturer for many decades in the Lamar University History Department. In addition to his career at Lamar University, he was also active in numerous community organizations in Beaumont. He was involved with the First United Methodist Church choir, as well a founding member and former President of the Beaumont Civic Opera. He was Vice President as well as Chairman of the Artists Selection Committee for the Beaumont Music Commission, corresponding with performers and agencies to arrange performances in Beaumont.
