The bulk of this collection consists of programs for various theatrical productions in southeast Texas and beyond. Organizations represented include Beaumont Community Players, Beaumont Opera, Actors Guild Tag, Forest Park High School Marquee Players, Lake Charles Little Theatre, and Lamar University. Also included in the collection are scrapbooks, production photographs, newspaper clippings, and Marylyn Munsterman’s personal correspondence and memorial.

Biographical Note

Marylyn Duhon Munsterman (1923-2016) was born in Beaumont, Texas in 1923 and remained a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of South Park High School, Lamar College of Technology, and Lamar University. She also studied for a time at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Marylyn was passionate about music, theatre, and the arts, teaching drama at Forest Park High School and active as both a performer and a director in numerous local theatrical productions. She directed the Junior League Children’s Theatre in Beaumont for eight years and wrote original songs and scripts for other local organizations including Beaumont Club, Symphony League, United Appeals, and Beaumont Civic Opera.

Marylyn and her husband, Alfred Munsterman (1914-1972), were business partners in various companies located in southeast Texas: Munsterman Tile Company, Jefferson Tile Company, Sabine Tile Company, and Beaumont Specialty Wholesale Company. Marylyn also was an entrepreneur in her own right, opening vintage jewelry boutiques in the Beaumont area which she named after her parents: Ada’s in Beaumont and Dewi’s in Nederland.
