Biographical Note

Clinton Bill Glasgow, Jr. (1917-1995), son of Clinton Bill Glasgow (1888-1949) and Flossie Fields Glasgow (1891-1974), was born on January 8, 1917, in Jefferson County, Texas. Clinton Bill Glasgow, Sr., was born in Illinois and in 1900 was living with his widowed mother and siblings in Bee County, Texas. Ten years later, he and his mother had made their way to Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas, and at this time he was employed by a private family as a chauffeur at the age of 22. The Jefferson County, Texas, marriage index on microfilm lists the union of Clinton B. Glasgow and Miss Flossie M. Fields in 1913. In 1918, Glasgow, Sr., is listed in Morrison & Fourmy's Beaumont City Directory without his spouse or children, and in the 1920 United States Census, he and his spouse with two children are located in Beaumont on McFadden Avenue. At this time, Clinton B. Glasgow, Sr., was also employed by a private family as chauffeur. By 1927, Glasgow, Sr., gained employment with the Jackson Motor Company as a salesman, and later city directories list several companies for which he was employed as salesperson or manager.

C. Bill Glasgow, Jr., married Mary Anna, and is listed in the city directories as president of the Texas Storage Company of Beaumont, Texas, from 1950-1979. The Texas Storage Company was incorporated in 1922 with S. G. Epstein as president. Located at 656 Neches Street, they advertised crating, shipping, storage and packing for local and long distance moving. The 1927-1928 Beaumont city directory lists Orren Mathews as Texas Storage Company president. Then in 1950, Clinton B. Glasgow became its president with his wife, Mary Anna, as secretary-treasurer.
