Biographical / Historical
The precursor to the First Security National Bank was the First National Bank of Beaumont that was established in 1889. This bank later acquired through mergers the Gulf National Bank in 1919 and the Texas National Bank in 1932. Then in 1961, the bank consolidated with Security State Bank to become the First Security National Bank. Later in 1973, the bank merged with First City Corp of Houston and changed its name to First City Bank. Following financial difficulties caused by a long-term recession in the international petroleum industry, the bank formally ceased operations in 1992.
