Scope and Content Note

The collection of photographs taken by Glynn Rogers includes negatives and prints of people and places in and around the area of Beaumont, Texas, as well as in various parts of Louisiana dating back to the early 1920’s. Public buildings, street scenes, businesses, landscapes and private homes are among the subjects of these photographs. Besides the city of Beaumont, other Texas locations include Galveston, Nederland, Port Arthur, Port Neches, Voth, and Orange. Locations in Louisiana also include Lake Charles, Opeleusas, and Elizabeth.

Biographical Note

Glynn W. Rogers was a photographer, who owned a photography studio in Beaumont at 594 Washington Boulevard. This collection consists primarily of photographic negatives taken during the 1920's. The images of Beaumont include such scenes as businesses and public buildings, churches and synagogues, schools, homes, parks, aerial views, and outlying agricultural activities. There are also images of southeast Texas that include the areas of Galveston, Port Arthur, Port Neches, Voth, Orange, and Village Creek. In addition, Louisiana images feature such locales as Abbeyville, Elizabeth, and Lake Charles.
