Abstract
John C. Hooper, Jr., was a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He lived in Beaumont for 73 years and was the owner of Hooper Graphic Arts and also was employed as a freelance photographer for the Beaumont Enterprise newspaper. This collection includes photographs of landmark structures around the City of Beaumont, landscapes, industrial, and portrait photographs that date back to the early 1900’s.

Biographical Note
John C. Hooper, Jr., lived in Beaumont most of his life and owned a small business, Hooper Graphic Arts. He married Mary Jane Langham in 1941 and they had 6 children. John was an avid photographer of the Beaumont area and also collected old photographs. His photographs depict Beaumont in the early twentieth century from approximately 1902 to the 1950’s. Included are photographs of the original central fire station, torn down in 1903; “Lovers Lane” which ran near the O’Brien mansion; the old police station; aerial views of the city; the Harvest Club; South Park High School; and St. Anthony High School.
