Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society Records
Scope and Content Note
The collection includes business records, membership records, concert information and scrapbooks from 1963 through to 2005 with a few items from 2005 up to 2009.
Business records include minutes of meetings, correspondence, treasury records and information on contracts and grants. Membership records include rosters and photographs. Concert information includes programs, rehearsal schedules, publicity posters and bulletins, and music scores and notes.

Biographical Note
The Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society was formed in 1963 by choirs from First United Methodist Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, First Christian Church, and Westminster Presbyterian Church. The group has performed 58 concerts in 46 years and has included members from more than forty churches and synagogues.
The Society is funded by donations and sponsorships as well as ongoing grants from The Texas Commission on the Arts through the Southeast Texas Arts Council, The Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, the Wilton and Effie Mae Hebert Foundation and the Mobil Oil Foundation. Members receive no remuneration. Each furnishes his or her own scores and costumes for performances.

Abstract
The Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society was founded in 1963 by the choirs of First United Methodist Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, First Christian Church, and Westminster Presbyterian Church to perform concerts of sacred choral music free of charge for the Beaumont community. During their many years of contribution to the music culture of Beaumont, members of the society have represented more than forty churches and synagogues. The collection includes business records, membership records, concert information, and scrapbooks.

This collection is organized chronologically beginning with materials from 1963 and including some materials up to 2009 with the bulk of the materials covering the years 1963 - 2005.
