Scope and Contents
This collection consists of records, financial documents, and correspondence belonging to members of the Bogan family of China, Texas. The majority of the records relate to Richard Bogan; however, there are also papers related to Florence Leach, L.B. Leach, and J. Roy Fontenot.

Biographical / Historical
Born in 1925 to Lucian Bogan and Hattie Lou Bogan, Richard Bogan was a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also had two sisters, Edna Mae Jones and Lou Ann Basham. As a teenager, Richard was paralyzed from the waist down due to a swimming accident. He eventually moved to China, Texas and was primarily raised by his aunt and uncle: Latney B. Leach and Florence Leach. Richard would go on to become a rice farmer with his business partner, J. Roy Fontenot. He served on the China city council for at least two years. He passed away in 1997 at 72 years old.

Abstract
This collection is comprised of business and personal papers belonging to members of the Bogan family. The Bogan family lived in China, Texas, though Richard Bogan and his immediate family were natives of Grand Rapids, Michigan prior to moving to Texas. Richard Bogan was a rice farmer along with his partner, J. Roy Fontenot. This collection contains papers and correspondence related to their business and the local farming community. There is also personal correspondence and legal documents related to other family members, including Florence Leach, Latney Leach, and Bill Bogan.
