Abstract Iva Tevis, born in Southeast Texas in 1873, was the great-grandson of Nancy Tevis, a member of one of Beaumont's first families. In the early 1900s, he played professional baseball with the Texas League and the American Association, and soon after returned to Beaumont to work for the city. Abstract The Texas League of Professional Baseball Teams was first organized in 1888. The Beaumont Exporters were formed in 1920 as part of the Texas League. They played at Magnolia Ballpark through 1929 before moving to the newly constructed Stuart Stadium in 1930. In the 1930s through 1946, the team was an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
